dog treats that are in the shape of moons and stars coming out of a glass jar

Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats

These treats are my doggy's favorite. Made with just five ingredients, these treats are super tasty and healthy (I may even eat snack on them myself, shhh). Cut them out into any shapes your doggo likes!

Equipment

  • Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 90g peanut butter (with NO xylitol & no oil, sugar, or salt; the ingredients list should only contain peanuts)
  • 1 egg
  • 150g oat flour
  • 140g whole wheat flour
  • olive oil, for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350F.
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until it has a baby food consistency. Add the peanut butter and the egg and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the flours and stir in until fully combined. Gently oil your hands and a clean surface. Knead the dough until it’s not sticky.
  • Roll out the dough with a lightly oiled rolling pin until about a ¼ of an inch thick.
  • Stamp out the treats with your preferred cookie cutter, re-kneading and re-rolling with scraps. Place the treats on a parchment lined baking sheet, with an inch between each treat. If you make differently sized treats, bake them on separate baking sheets, because they’ll take different times to bake.
  • Bake the treats in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, depending on the size of the treats (12 for for small, 15 for larger treats!). They should be a little brown at the edges after baked. If they're not, bake them a bit longer, checking often. Let the treats cool for 5 minutes on the sheet pan before transferring to a cooling rack to fully cool.
  • I hope your doggo loves these like mine does! These freeze amazingly for long term keeping. Let me know what you think below in the comments or on Instagram @higheralchemybaking!

Notes

You can replace the oat flour with whole wheat flour if you wish.
You can replace one banana with half a cup of applesauce.
